Historical Home Tour
Step into history and hear the incredible story of one of Hawai‘i’s most beloved community leaders. A pā‘ū queen, award winning jockey, and a hard working cowgirl, Anna’s story will leave you amzed and inspired. The historic ranch house has been restored, and the antiques and furnishings from generations past offer a glimpse back in time. The historic ranch house holds a treasure trove of historical items, including a significant archive collection of records, photographs, artifacts and household items that offer the visitor an historical account of the Lindsey Family. Visitors may tour the spectacular fourteen room historic ranch house on a guided tour and learn about Hawai’i’s rich ranching history and how five generations of the Lindsey Family became premier contributors to the legacy of ranching in Hawai‘i.
Anna Ranch Heritage Center is also equipped to accommodate private tours for groups by special arrangement. The highlight of these visits of course is the historical ranch home where a docent will lead your group through the home sharing Anna’s incredible story. Private groups are also able to add on educational offerings, such as a blacksmith demonstration, where artist and our on-site blacksmith Ethan Froney, will demonstrate how he hand forges his beautiful, yet functional works of art. You may also want to add a “Hawaiian Tree Saddle” talk story where our onsite saddle maker will share the story of how the Hawaiian saddle is unique to Hawai‘i. Some of the guys and gals may want to try their hand at roping too!
Experience the beauty and legend of Anna Ranch in Waimea with an exclusive tour of nearly 100 acres located behind the historic residence of Anna Lindsey Perry-Fiske, original Hawaiian Cowgirl & the First lady of Ranching. The tour begins with a brief introduction and history of the operating ranch and legacy Anna left behind. This tour is family-friendly and provides a deep insight into the rich history of the a’ina that is Anna Ranch. We ride directly from the ranch across the Kohakohau stream and head up nearly 1200 feet to our snack spot, where we can hear the flowing stream and enjoy a stunning view of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai.
